Digital estate planning: prepare for a useful conversation

An inventory helps explain your digital affairs to a qualified adviser. It does not replace professional advice or legal documents.

Bring an inventory, not passwords

List accounts, important files, paid services and business responsibilities. Describe what should happen to each category. Flag financial holdings and business obligations for professional review rather than attempting to settle legal details through a platform setting.

Questions for your adviser

Which people should have authority? Which provider processes should be documented? What should stay private? Explain whether information is shared now or intended for later. Ask how changes in residence, family circumstances or ownership affect the plan. Keep recovery phrases out of general planning email.

Keep working notes current

Save readable instructions with an independent copy. Tell the representative how to locate them. Arrange a review after major life or account changes. Use the worksheet for a first draft and the provider-tools guide for account-specific preparation.

A small next step

  1. Inventory accounts, files and responsibilities.
  2. Record your intended outcome.
  3. Discuss authority and access with a qualified adviser.
  4. Keep instructions and independent copies current.

Where Digital Keep fits

Digital Keep's invitation-only beta lets you try private notes, documents and explicit read-only sharing with fictional information. Adding a person does not grant access; you choose sharing separately. Automatic death verification and inheritance delivery are not active. Digital Keep does not replace provider tools or legal advice.

Do not upload passwords, seed phrases, bank credentials or irreplaceable data during the beta. Read the security boundaries and keep independent copies.
