Questions about Digital Keep
Straight answers about what the private beta does, how to use it and what still needs a separate plan.
What is Digital Keep?
Digital Keep is a digital legacy planning platform in private beta. It helps testers organize information, documents and instructions, and connect individual items to chosen people. Its planned legacy verification and release service is not active.
The aim is to make important information easier to understand and prepare for a future handoff. Read the product overview for the current scope, or start with what a digital legacy plan includes.
How do I get access to the private beta?
Join the early-access waitlist on the Digital Keep homepage. Beta access is granted by invitation; joining the waitlist does not create a platform account or guarantee an invitation date.
Use an email address you can access, then follow the instructions if you receive an invitation. You can use all our free planning guides without a beta account. There is no confirmed public launch date.
What can I test in Digital Keep today?
Invited testers can try organizing vault items, adding documents or attachments, writing instructions, choosing intended recipients and using account security controls. These are preparation features; they do not activate a completed inheritance or release service.
Use the onboarding instructions inside the beta for the features available to your account. Test whether another person could understand your example instructions, and report unclear steps through the beta feedback form.
Should I put real passwords or sensitive documents in the beta?
Use fictitious information and harmless sample files while testing. Do not use the private beta as the only place for important documents, recovery codes or instructions that someone may urgently need.
Keep working copies and existing access arrangements outside the beta. Read the beta data policy for retention, export and deletion information before adding content.
Is Digital Keep a password manager?
Digital Keep focuses on organizing instructions and information for trusted people. It does not replace a dedicated password manager for everyday sign-ins, password generation or autofill.
A useful plan can record where approved access instructions are kept without copying passwords into an ordinary document. Our access tools guide explains how provider features and password-manager emergency access fit into a wider plan.
Is Digital Keep end-to-end encrypted?
No. The private build encrypts vault content and attachments on the server using AES-GCM. The application server can decrypt that content with its configured keys, so Digital Keep is not a zero-knowledge or end-to-end encrypted service.
Account access checks and operational key management are also part of the protection. The security page explains the boundaries without treating encryption as a guarantee against every risk.
Does Digital Keep support two-factor authentication?
Yes. Two-factor authentication is implemented in the private build. Enabling it adds a further check to the account sign-in process; it does not change the platform into an end-to-end encrypted service.
Follow the security settings inside your beta account and keep any recovery information in a separate, secure place. Do not send authentication codes or recovery secrets to someone offering help by email.
Can different people be assigned different information?
The private build supports assigning separate vault items to different beneficiaries. An assignment records an intended recipient; it does not mean identity verification is complete or that future legacy delivery is active.
For example, a sample family message and a sample business instruction can have different intended recipients. Keep each person's role clear and use existing, working access arrangements for real needs while the release process is being developed.
Does Digital Keep detect a death or automatically release information?
No. Digital Keep does not currently provide automatic death detection, government death-registry integrations or an active legacy release service. Beneficiary verification, death verification and release procedures are still being developed.
Accepting an invitation does not verify a death or establish someone's legal authority. Read what must exist before legacy release goes live, and keep a practical handoff plan that works today.
Can Digital Keep transfer accounts, money or cryptocurrency?
No. Digital Keep prepares information and instructions. It does not transfer legal ownership of an account, money, cryptocurrency or other property, and it is not a will.
Keep practical instructions aligned with the relevant provider's process and your separate legal arrangements. Do not treat a chosen recipient in the app as proof of ownership or permission to bypass an account provider's requirements.
How can I start planning without a Digital Keep account?
List five important accounts, choose one trusted person and record where the approved access instructions can be found. Then check the providers' current legacy or emergency-access options and tell that person where to begin.
Use the eight-step checklist and printable worksheet. Keep passwords and recovery codes off the worksheet. A short plan someone can find and understand is a useful first step.
Where can I ask for help or make a privacy request?
Contact contact@digital-keep.com for questions, corrections, privacy requests or a potential security issue. The public waitlist and the private beta have separate data policies.
Read the public-site privacy notice or the beta data policy for the information relevant to you. Include enough context to explain your request, but do not email passwords, identity documents or vault contents. You can leave the waitlist using an unsubscribe link in a waitlist email.
